Technical Assistance Missions

 

October 1 – 3: Corporate Governance and Legal Framework on SOEs

Laura Doherty, CDOT Advisor, and IMF team held an in-person workshop on “State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) and the related Law” ” in Malaysia to advise the authorities on the latest developments in corporate governance, competition law and insolvency, and fiscal risks oversight of SOEs. The workshop was also conducted to encourage a discussion among Malaysian authorities about various approaches to SOE legal reform and the preferable approach for Malaysia. There were 40 participants from Malaysia’s Ministry of Finance and other agencies, including the Ministry of Economy, Securities Commission, Companies Commission, Bank Negara, Attorney General’s office, and Competition Commission.

May 27 – 31: Government Finance Statistics

 

 

In consultation with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) of Malaysia, Deon Tanzer, CDOT Advisor, and the IMF's Statistics Department (STA) organized a Government Finance Statistics (GFS) and Public Sector Debt Statistics (PSDS) implementation workshop in Langkawi, Malaysia during May 27 – 31, 2024. The workshop continued to support improving fiscal statistics for evidence-based fiscal policymaking and surveillance. More specifically, the workshop supported the Malaysian macroeconomic statistics compilers to assess and classify statutory bodies (SBs) and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) and to review the Classification of Expenditure by Functions of Government (COFOG) while also deepening COFOG data to the second level.
